The Division of Social Services administers Adult Protective Services (APS). Anyone aged 18 to 64 who, because of their mental or physical disability is unable to effectively protect themselves against abuse or neglect, or anyone age of 65 or older, who is suspected of being abused or neglected, is eligible for APS without regard to income.

Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES)

Psychiatric Emergency Services provide the following services:

 

  • Psychiatric emergency response for voluntary and involuntary (W&I Code 5150) clients who are experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms.
  • Evaluation of clients for psychiatric hospitalization.

PES screening and intervention services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Length of care is limited to less than 24 hours. Admissions for hospital inpatient care are arranged as necessary.
 

Urgent Care / Clinical Assessment Team

This is the urgent care unit that provides bi-lingual (Spanish/Vietnamese/English) assessment, evaluation and short-term psychological stabilization services. This team authorizes outpatient specialty mental health services for Medi-Cal beneficiaries.


Adult Outpatient Team and Medication Clinic

The Adult Outpatient Team provides intake, evaluation, urgent care, outpatient treatment, and a limited amount of community services throughout the county. The team also staffs an outpatient medication clinic for clients in need of psychiatric medications. Limited outpatient services are also available at the West Marin Human Service Center.

The Adult Medication Clinic provides psychiatric medications to clients who are uninsured or whose insurance coverage does not cover the cost of medications. CMHS works with the pharmaceutical companies to obtain medications at no cost to the client. Each company has it's own criteria for admission to their program. CMHS works with over 20 pharmaceutical companies. The program can only provide this service to CMHS clients. CMHS currently provides this service to approximately 175 clients.
